Memoires of Our Nevous Illness

As some of you know, I've come down with a mysterious disease that defies diagnosis, usually leaving me supine in bed and exhausted after being awake two hours.

Nevertheless...

Heather McShane and I (Abra) have been scrupulously documenting our various nervous ailments and social concerns via ultra-secret anxiety-exposing experiment. We're calling our project Memoires of Our Nervous Illness and documenting our findings in PowerPoint:

Nicki Yowell and Taleen Kalenderian are hosting a multi-media exposition and party at Happy Dog tonight (where Heather and I will present our findings), to benefit the release of their new lit mag, Lightness & Darkness.

The info is as follows:

"Description

Multimedia book project Lightness & Darkness will throw its release party and first performance on January 28 at Happy Dog, a Wicker Park apartment gallery and alternative art space. The L & D release features musical performances by three-piece punk ensemble Wishgift, electro-rockers She Speaks in Tongues, a solo set with AJ Cesena (Videotape, Violet Mice), and Lightness & Darkness’ brand new sonic-literary collaboration with members of Lady Rollins. The show also includes brand new experimental readings, film screenings and collaborative pieces from L & D’s contributors and friends.

The show marks the formal release of Lightness & Darkness, created by writer/self-publisher/artists/BFFs Taleen Kalenderian (DUM DUM Zine, Talzine) and Nicki Yowell (‘Za the Pizza Zine, Flush). L & D is a print experiment in dualities and overlapping art mediums: prose, poetry, illustration, design, film and music. Kalenderian and Yowell created the concept to “explore what it means to be a writer in the foreground.”

And, by the way, Lonnie finally obtained access to the Happy Dog Gallery Tumblr, meaning it no longer appears as if we haven't existed in two years.
